On Tuesday, February 22 we visited Tianenman Square, the Forbidden City, the Hou Hai neighborhood, Lama Temple and finished off with Peking Duck dinner. What a whirlwind day! The Chinese culture is ancient and fascinating, and the recent history is just as rich and even more confusing to our Western eyes. On the left is the picture I took of the female lion who always stands to the left of the gates to the forbidden city. You can tell she is the female because she rests her paw on a lion cub. The male rests his paw on the sphere of power. Hmmph! I'd like to see the men raise the kids and see how much power they think they have. More later...we're off to tour another school today.
